I got a cell phone when I started high school. Whether or not you should have one depends on how independent you are and why you want one. First off, quotall your friends doquot is not a good reason for anything. If you go off and do things with your friends outside of your houses or school without parental supervision ever, then a cell phone is probably a good idea. However, for a kid your age, the reason to get a cell phone is to keep in touch with your parents, and have it in case of an emergency. If you just want it so you can talk to your friends and send txt messages during class, no way should you get one. But theres no inherent reason why a yearold shouldnt have a cell phone so long as either youll be extremely responsible about how and when you use it or your parents can affort to pay a really big phone bill.brbrIf you really want your parents to get you a cell phone, tell them you need it so you can check in with them when you go out with your friends, and so you can call them in case of an emergency.
